Hi, so I have minimal knowledge about cars, but I recently had a check engine light come on in my car (2007 Jeep patriot). I went to auto zone for them to check with the code reader, or whatever it is called, and came up with the code P2004, which is "manifold rudder control (IMRC) stuck open: bank one". It lists the probable causes as "short circut condition", "damaged IMRC actuator/solenoid" and "blocked vaccum hoses" How serious is this problem, and more importantly can I get someone to ballpark what it might cost to get it repaired? I just don't want to get ripped off by some mechanic who realizes that i don't know jack about cars. Any advice is appreciated. I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
